National Export Congress slated on Dec. 3

 

Exporters are banking on stronger trade facilitation efforts to boost their competitiveness in the overseas markets especially amid falling Philippine exports.

 

The National Export Congress will be held on Dec. 3 at Marriot Hotel Grand Ballroom where about 600 industry stakeholders will collectively work on achieving and sustaining the set export targets.

 

They will discuss global competitiveness measures such as trade facilitation, product quality and innovation and sector-focused marketing assistance, as well as ways to maximize benefits of various initiatives of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) for the small and medium enterprises (SMEs). 

 

Among the key officials who will speak at the Congress are Trade Undersecretary Ponciano Manalo Jr., Trade Undersecretary Zenaida Cuison-Maglaya, Customs Commissioner Alberto Lina, Bureau of Philippine Standards Director Ann Claire Credo-Cabochan, PHILEXPORT President Sergio Ortiz Luis Jr., Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) President Alfredo Yao and export executives to their experiences and insights to successful exporting

 

During the event, top performing exporters in various and diverse categories will be awarded.

 

The holding of the yearly event is in consonance with Presidential Proclamation 931, series of 1996, which declared the first week of December as the National Exporters Week.

 

This year’s week-long event carrying the theme “Enabling SMEs (small and medium enterprises) for International Markets” aims to promote favorable business environment to enable domestic industries, particularly the SME exporters, to enhance their capabilities to supply to international markets.

 

Also part of the National Exporters’ Week is the holding of Usapang Exports seminars on Dec. 7 which will tackle various issues affecting the export sector, particularly transport and logistics; financing; and trade policies and procedures simplification.
