Theme: “Enabling SMEs for International Markets”

A. Background

The National Exporters’ Week is an annual event led by the Department of Trade & Industry (DTI), the Export Development Council (EDC), and the Philippine Exporters Confederation Inc. (PHILEXPORT). Presidential Proclamation 931, series of 1996 and House Resolution No.33 declared the first week of December as the Exporters’ Week in order to obtain total commitment of the government and the private sector to continuously work together to sustain and maintain export promotion and development. Hence, the yearly celebration of the Exporters Week has evolved into an important national event. Regional Offices of the DTI, PHILEXPORT and the Academe will also be celebrating the event with various activities in line with the year’s chosen theme.

The highlight of the week-long celebration is the conduct of the National Export Congress to be participated in by about 600 stakeholders i.e. exporters, manufacturers, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), government policy makers, business support organizations and academe. They will collectively work on achieving and sustaining the set export targets.
